About Hearts
This online version of the classic card game Hearts was made by me. My name is Einar Egilsson and over there on the left is my current Facebook profile picture! Hearts is the third card game I've made, the other two are Shithead and Crazy Eights. I used to play Hearts a lot when I was younger, it was one of the games that came with every version of Windows. I wanted to be able to play Hearts online, and just didn't think all the hundreds of other versions of Hearts would do! Of the card games I've made, Hearts is probably my favorite. At least I play it a lot more than the others.
The game is made using html+JavaScript+css with jQuery used for the animations. All the graphics used for the game I found at OpenClipArt, a great site with free graphics. The excellent playing card images were made by Nicu Buculei, and the player images were made by Gerald G.
About Hearts
This online version of Checkers was made by me. My name is Einar Egilsson and over there on the left is my current Facebook profile picture! Checkers is one of those games, much like Backgammon, that I've always wanted to make, but needed to learn it properly first. Well, I finally learnt it, made it and here it is. I hope you enjoy it!
Checkers is a classic board game, dating back to around 3000 BC. It is very simple, but a lot of fun! Checkers is known as Draughts in England and there are multiple variations of it all around the world. The game is played on an 8x8 chequered board, essentially a chess board. Each player starts with 12 pieces, placed on the dark squares of the board closest to them. The objective of the game is to capture all the opponent's pieces by jumping over them.
About Chess
Chess has been requested many times over the years, but we've always been a bit afraid to give it a go, because making a good chess opponent is quite difficult. We made our own chess engine for the easy and medium players (Bill and Bill Sr.) but for the hard player (Beth) we use the open source Garbochess-JS engine written by Gary Linscott, since we just weren't able to make our own engine strong enough, we really aren't chess experts 🙂.
But really the main purpose for this chess game is to let people play online chess against other people in a simple and easy way. Some of the other chess sites on the internet are very good, for example chess.com and lichess.org but they are also pretty complex and cluttered, sometimes you just want to play chess online but not think about scoreboards and creating accounts and all those things, and that's where we come in, we aim to be the simplest and easiest multiplayer chess site!
About Mahjong
Mahjong is a game we've wanted to make for years, but finally got around to making now! The main thing stopping us was that we didn't have good graphics for it. Usually we've used free graphics from openclipart.org for our games, but this time we used fiverr.com and got custom graphics made. We're really happy with the results! This is also only our second game to have any sounds! We bought our sounds from soundsnap.com, a great site for sound effects. But don't worry, you can of course turn off the sounds in Options!
Mahjong was mainly developed by Kjartan, one of our first full-time employees. Other games Kjartan has worked on are Backgammon and Kings in the corners.

Hi there. My name is Einar Egilsson and I created this version of Tri Peaks Solitaire.
As always, many thanks go to Nicu Buculei, who created the awesome playing card images that I use for all my games.

The objective of the game is is to move all cards from the three Peaks onto the Waste. You can only move open cards to the Waste, a card is considered open if there are no other cards covering it. At the beginning the whole bottom row is open. Once you move cards from the Peaks you open up other cards that you can then flip over and are then open to move to the Waste as well.
About Backgammon
Backgammon is the 28th game we make here at CardGames.io. It's been requested a lot over the years, but the main reason it was nevercreated was the custom graphics needed for it. Well, finally we did it! Backgammon is the first game developed by CardGames.io's two newfull time employees, Kjartan and Alexandra! Winning a single game can take a long time, so we decided to just make the simplest version, withoutthe doubling dice and tracking wins over many games. However, if we get a lot of requests for that we might add it later.
The game is written in JavaScript, using the Phaser HTML5 Game framework. The game board and pieces are custom graphics made here at CardGames.io, the dice and player faces as always come from our favorite clipart site, Open Clipart.
